FIRST TAKE HEART SHIPMENT DEPARTS 24th July, 2013

Today marks a historic day for the Take Heart Mercy Mission charity as our first shipment of lifesaving medical equipment was packed in to a container, ready for shipment to Sri Lanka.

Over £500,000 worth of state of the art medical technology, including ultrasound equipment, operating tables and cardiac assist systems have been safely stored in packing crates and were carefully loaded onto a transport container this morning in Sevenoaks.

The container lorry then set off from Kent at 12.30pm this afternoon to begin the short journey to the port of Felixstowe, where it will be loaded on to a container ship for the month long voyage to Sri Lanka.

Once the shipment arrives its final destination is the Karapitaya Hospital in Galle where the Take Heart Team will be using the equipment shipped to help save lives on their annual Mercy Mission visit this September.

Everyone at Take Heart Mercy Mission would like to say a huge thank you everyone that has helped make today’s shipment a reality. Your generosity will not only make a huge difference to the lives of many young children and their families in Sri Lanka but also help us to improve the care and assistance that we offer for every child we treat.
